Before registering your child for this team, please be aware of the following: - The child must be between 1,5 and 2 years old (at the start of the classes). - One parent, grandparent or other close related adult must join the classes in the water. - The participating adult must be comfortable with water and ready to participate actively in the lessons. - Disposable diapers AND baby swim trunks (of the "Happy Nappy" type) are required for children who are not toilet trained. Please note that diapers and swim trunks cannot be purchased in connection with swimming lessons. The Søstjerne team is a class for children and parents who want to play and splash together. Parent/child swimming is a unique way to be active together. The teaching is completely on the children's premises and also includes guidance on how to support the child in the water as parents. Parent/child swimming helps to strengthen your child's body awareness, confidence in the water, balance and muscle strength. The child learns how to orientate in a swimming pool and acquires skills in the water through various games. The child takes the first baby steps towards actual swimming lessons and will be able to start using various tools in the swimming pool to play with. All parent/child teams are taught for 30 minutes per lesson. It can be cold for small children and a children's wetsuit is recommended if the child has difficulty keeping warm. Towards the end of the season, the child learns to be in the water without an adult being with the child all the time and is thus prepared to go swimming alone at the swimming school's next level, Beginner (Penguin).
